London Terminals

  1. Paddington - Great Western Main Line to Bristol Temple Meads via Slough, Reading, Didcot Parkway, Swindon, Chippenham and Bath Spa.
  2. Marylebone - Chiltern Main Line to Birmingham via West Ruislip, High Wycombe, Bicester North and Banbury. Originally GWR from Paddington.
  3. Euston - West Coast Main Line (runs parallel and north of Chiltern Main Line to Glasgow via Watford Junction, Milton Keynes, Northhampton, Rugby and parallel loops to serve Coventry, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster, and Carlisle.
  4. St Pancras - provides East Midland services to Leicester, Corby, Sheffield and Nottingham; Southeastern high speed trains to Kent; Thameslink services to Bedford, Peterborough, Brighton and Gatwick Airport. It is also the international terminal for Eurostar services to France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
  5. Kings Cross - East Coast Main Line to Edinburgh via Stevenage, Peterborough, Grantham, Doncaster, York, Newcastle and Berwick-upon-Tweed. Thameslink and Great Northern suburban services operate to Ely or Kings Lyn via Cambridge (branching off the ECML at Hitching just north of Stevenage.
  6. Liverpool Street - West Anglia Main Line to Cambridge some via Stratford, Cheshunt, and a branch to Stanstead Airport. Great Eastern Main Line (aka East Anglia Main Line) to Norwich via Stratford, Chelmsford, Colchester, Ipswich (with a freight branch to Felixstowe) and Diss. The London Overground suburban Lea Valley Lines run to termini at Chingford, Cheshunt and Enfield Town run from this terminal as well.
  7. Fenchurch Street - Operated by c2c to destinations in east London and south Essex such as Barking, Upminster and Shoeburyness.
  8. London Bridge (and Cannon Street) - One of 2 terminals south of the Thames. Serves Southeastern commuter services from Cannon Street and Charing Cross to southeast London, Kent and East Sussex as well as a terminal for many Southern services along the Brighton main line.
  9. Cannon Street - This terminal station on the north bank of the Thames is on a stub north from London Bridge forking off at Borough Market. The station caters for rush hour trains to and from Kent and East Sussex. Normal services are to Hayes, Orphington (both in the southeast) and various loop services that run via Greenwich.
  10. Blackfriars (through north/south) - North and South London Thameslink lines and some Southeastern commuter services to Brighton, Sutton, Bedford, Cambridge and Peterborugh. Northwards the lines connect via St Pancras and Camden East Junction under the NLL. Southbound services run through London Bridge or Elephant and Castle, Loughborough Junction to Herne Hill Junction on the Chatham Main line.
  11. Charing Cross - This terminal station is located on the north bank of the Thames not far from London Waterloo which is located on the south side. It was originally the terminus for boat trains arriving from the continent. It is on an extension stub diverging from London Bridge at Borough Market with a connection to serve Blackfriars (another stub goes to Cannon Street). It is the terminal for the South Eastern Main Line to Dover via Ashford, with trains running to Dover, Ramsgate, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Dartford and Hayes.
  12. Waterloo - this station is the terminal for the South Western Main Line to Weymouth via Southampton, the West of England line to Exeter via Salisbury, the Portsmouth Direct Line to Portsmouth and several commuter lines to the west and south west. It was the terminus for Eurostar trains from Europe until they moved to St. Pancras. It is the busiest (the busiest for boarding/alighting is Clapham Junction down the line) and has the most platforms of any station in the UK.
  13. Victoria - terminus of the Brighton Main Line, and the Chatham Main Line to Ramsgate and Dover via Chatham. It is the second busiest in London after Waterloo. There are connections to the Catford Loop Line, Dartford Loop Line, and the Oxted Line. Operated by Southern and Southeastern.
